Okay, so I'm sort of sucking at this Every Day In May thing. 13 out of 19 isn't so bad though, is it? Especially compared to my grand total of 3 posts in April?
The change of Talk in PX so that you don't automatically see all the latest posts is driving me nuts! I feel like I'm missing out on so much, and wish it were back to the old way!
Now, let's get to the exciting stuff! Mom put an offer on the house Monday! We should know within a few days if it's accepted, and soon after the inspection will be done to tell us just how much repair work we need to do. We did put a condition in the contract that we wouldn't buy it if it needed *too* much work. I know we'll be doing mostly (if not all) new carpet, because while the carpet isn't in bad condition, it's just plain ugly (and I'm not even talking about the wood carpet here!) The funny thing is that my sister called up and left a message on the machine offering to come down this weekend and help us pack. This weekend! We'll be lucky if the contract is even through by then! And after that there's about a billion hours worth of painting and cleaning and recarpeting and 70's wallpaper removing and PLEASE, Mom, upstairs kitchen countertop replacing! (It's various shades of fake wood. As in super-light to dark and cherry looking. I'll have to take a picture, it's so bad!) The fireplace needs cleaned out, the bathrooms need SO much done (whirlpools installed, in my opinion, but that's still under negotiations.) and whatever other zillion point five things that the inspector finds wrong. (Did I mention there's a HOLE in my bathroom ceiling from a former leak? Yeah.) So anyway, the fact that my sister offers to come this weekend, instead of say... July... cracks me right the hell up!
Monday was also the kittens' very first birthday! I really wish Trinny could have been here for it, we miss him so much! I bought Pip and Lilly birthday cards (I know, shut up.) and made them what we called a "birthday cake" out of 3 different kinds of super-yummy cat food, some dry food, and treats, and served it up on a snazzy new plate I bought them. Lu was included in the celebration, since we don't know when her birthday actually is, given that unlike the others, she wasn't born in the middle of my bed. In case you missed all of the excitement this time last year, that post is here.
Let's compare, shall we?

Pippin Now

Pippin and Trinity figured out their sleeping situation early on. Brothers always snuggle up together.

Brothers, just a couple of weeks ago.
Speaking of the kittens (a first for me, I know!) Pip scared the hell out of us today! He was laying around all sickly-like this morning, not wanting food, *just* like Trinny was exactly a week ago. To say we freaked out is an understatement. Well, I pulled him up on the couch with me so we could nap together, and he finally opened his eyes to look at me -ah HAH! You know his eye that's not quite right? Well, he has some sort of infection in it, and it's pretty icky looking. Thankfully, though, that explains his not feeling good! He came in to eat a little bit ago, so him having an appetite is a good sign! I'm going to try to get him to the vet today to get the eye looked at anyway, though. Do vets offer frequent flyer miles?
As you can see above, Pip is very used to sleeping next to Trinny, so the past week has been different for him. He's taken me on as his substitute brother, and I love snuggling up to him at night, I have learned a very important lesson: Pippin snores. No, not cute little kitten snores, but big, huge, you would think it was a 300 lb trucker snores. I couldn't stop laughing the first time he did it!
I checked my search strings today, you know, the things people type in search engines to find my page? Some favorites...
"who had the idea of building walt disney?" -Um, I'm pretty sure his parents were in charge of creating him.
"brownie magic carpet" Are they looking for a magic carpet made of brownies? A magic carpet that takes you to brownies? Brownies that look like magic carpets?
"tags de rhinoceroses"- HUH?
"lasagna planting procedure" again, I say...HUH?
Oh, hey, do any of you happen to be really smart in the ways of hair dye? As you may remember, I am currently BRIGHT red. I need to get back to medium brown with a hint of reddishness to match my extensions again, preferably within a week. I'm thinking I could dye it brown, and then reddish brown over that, but I'm kind of worried my hair will fall out. Most of the reddish brown colors would just make me redder if I don't go brown first, though.
Maybe I'll just shave my head.
