Who called up their work today to give two weeks notice? Why, that would be me! I was going to wait to be 100% sure that I was in to one university or the other, but then being patient took too long, so I called up my bosses. I felt so bad quitting, because the people I've been working for the last couple of years are SO nice, but a) I'm really tired of driving, b) I'm not making enough when you consider how much wear and tear on my poor car it is, and of course, c) I can't take college classes, travel agent classes, and work all at the same time. Well, okay, I *could*, I just don't want to.
I was adding up the miles I've driven this year the other day, so that I'll have em all ready when it's time to do my taxes, and I found out that I drove thirty-two thousand miles for work last year! That's crazy! I picked $1.75 as an estimate of average gas price for the year, which means that I spent about $2,880 in gas! This makes quitting a little easier.
I am starting to get the hang of this knitting thing! Every time I complete a row, I want to run around and show everyone my progress. LOOK! I can make yarn stick together! I'm fascinated by it. Unfortunately, so is Tallulah, and I got a claw stuck right in my finger earlier when I tried to save my yarn from her.
Thanks to the leaky cauldron, I just found out that Alan Rickman will be doing the voice of Marvin for the Hitchhiker's Guide movie! As if the movie wasn't exciting enough!
I'm planning to go visit the bird that sat on my head tomorrow on my break from work. The idea of getting him is starting to sound like a lot of fun, but a) I'm not sure how it would work out, since macaws like to be out of their cages a lot, and I'm not sure how he would get along with the cats, and b) they live almost as long as humans, so it's a big commitment, and of course, c) he's probably about $3,000. But he's so cool!
Speaking of things I can't really afford, I *finally* dropped off my pictures from my Dec. vacation to get developed this afternoon. The local wal-mart's memory card reader sucks, and wouldn't read mine, so I had to get them done at the wal-mart about 45 mins away, since I'm near it every day for work. That 24 cents per photo adds up FAST! I had 212 that I wanted to develop, so I'll be paying something like $56. Eep! Good thing I didn't develop all 1200 or so!
