January 11, 2005

I started today out grumpy, to say the least.  My mom woke me up by announcing that I had mail from Drury (el University), so through sleepy eyes, I asked the obvious question- "Is it a big fat one?"  It was not.  It was a "Hey, thanks for the application, but we need a copy of your transcript!"  I called my high school back, and given my grumpy mood, was probably kind of mean to the lady I talked to.  I'm pretty sure I said something along the lines of "I called you guys an ENTIRE WEEK ago about my transcript, and they haven't got it yet!" (It takes exactly one day for mail to get from here to there.  In fact, the letter I got this morning was dated Jan 10th).  The lady told me that they had been busy getting out mid term grades, but they were planning on catching up on transcript requests today.  I told her "I understand that you've been really busy, but my semester there starts NEXT WEEK, so I really need that transcript to get to them ASAP, because I am FREAKING OUT HERE!"  It's kind of fun when you don't go to that school anymore, so you're not afraid to kind of yell at people.  Um, in a nice way, of course.

The other reason I was grumpy was that right after I woke up, the guy who has been working on our house came over to "work".  I told him that there had been a leak in the bathroom ever since he started "fixing" my ceiling in there last week, and that there is also a drip up above my ceiling if you use my bathroom sink.  He tried to tell me that no, there is not a drip.  I think my exact words were "Then what the hell is that DRIP DRIP DRIP noise when I turn the sink on?"  So, he looked under the sink.  "Not down there, up above!  Above!"  "There's no drip up there." "Dude, I LIVE here!  I hear it EVERY day!  Are you trying to say that I don't know what a DRIP sounds like?"  Um, I was a little grumpy by this point.  Luckily, I had a pretty fun day at work, so my grumpiness faded away pretty quickly after I was out of the house.  I'm not sure how I'm going to adjust to having no work to go to!  I know that school stuff will take up a lot of my time, but you guys are seriously going to remind me to get out of the house now and then.  I have a tendency to go into major, hardcore hermit mode if my schedule allows.

I was just looking at my entry from about this time last year, and found this photo of my goldfish:

That's Sushi on the left, Pamplemousse on the right.  Now, let's examine a photo of them taken just a minute ago:

It took me 19 photos to get one where you can actually see the fish.  No wonder my photos taken at aquariums always suck!  Anyway, in both photos, Pamplemousse is on the left, and Sushi is on the right.  Notice anything...oh, I dunno... DIFFERENT about Sushi?  Like maybe, I dunno, that he is TOTALLY DIFFERENT COLORED NOW?  How the heck did he DO that?  Freaky!

The whole Spring Cleaning (well, technically New Year's cleaning, but Spring sounds so much nicer) thing is actually coming along pretty well.  I organized my dvd's last night (my collection has outgrown the shelves in my entertainment center, so I had to get creative), got my 2nd desk mostly cleaned off, and a bunch of postcards I've received put up on the wall, and have been going through my massive magazine collection, trying to get rid of some.  Progress, at least!

I picked up my WDW trip photos this afternoon, and much to my excitement, found out that you get a discount if you order more than 50, so it was only $47 instead of $56!  Hooray!

After knitting a few rows on the scarf I started, I decided that it really was WAY too wide, and that it would take forever to knit an actual scarf length at that rate, so I decided to start over.  The little piece I knitted at first makes a lovely kitty scarf, though!
