February 12, 2005

Oh man, most of today was just craptacular.  I fell asleep around 10pm last night, and then woke up at 1, and couldn't sleep again until 7am or so.  However, I really really needed to go deposit my check and return my library books and really wanted to go get new soap stuff, so I asked mom to get me up at 11am.  Oh, those four pretty hours of sleep.  Mom did that thing where she tries to hold a conversation with me as she's waking me up, which usually results in a) me speaking Swahili, b) me agreeing to take over Russia, c) things coming out of my mouth that resemble "comfffabamawa neneo seeve?" (which translates to "Coffee now please?", just in case you have never lived with me).

I also had a repeat appearance by that fun head pain that is now affectionately known as "The gnome in my head with a nail gun".  I've gone back and forth all day between thinking that it's either migranes (ick), or that I've pinched a nerve or something since my neck is so out of whack, and thus, oww.  I'm hoping for the screwy neck solution, since that's easy to fix with a quick trip to the chiropractor (or the rice krispy doctor as he's known around here- you know, snap-crackle-pop!), whereas migranes are more of a reoccuring, drugs-needed kind of thing.  Of course, el Chiro is closed till Monday, so until then, I'm screwed.

Through my (OWW, the gnome just fired the nail gun.)  powers of daughterly persuasion, I talked Mom into going to Springfield with me, just in case I felt like I needed someone to kill me along the way (or maybe drive, if the Gnome continued his ways).  We stopped at the library first, and the parking lot was PACKED.  I always park out in the last row, just because there's never anyone there, but I had to fight for a spot today!  We wander inside to see that there's a health fair going on!  I did a quick glance around to see if there was a "Gnome in my head with a nailgun removal" booth, but no luck.  They DID, however, have like four different massage therapy companies doing free five-minute massages!  One had a long wait, so I went to look around while I waited, and found another one open, so I settled in.  Oh, my word, I can not tell you how much I needed a massage on today of all days, when every single muscle in my neck is at war with my body.  The poor massage guy did the best he could in five minutes, saying things like "Wow, no wonder your neck hurts.", and doing really mean things like sticking his thumb on a pressure point really hard for what seemed like FOREVER.  It seemed to help a lot though, and the whole really-really-screwed up neck adds to my "The gnome is the result of a screwy neck" theory.

I made a faster than usual trip around the library, grabbing a few books for school, and a few for me.  Mmm, books.  I'm sure I'll babble on about the projects the books are for later on, so I'll skip that now.

The good part of the day (and man did I need it!), was getting new soap stuff!  I went to both Michaels and Hobby Lobby, and got the following:  New Soap Molds in turtle & frog shapes (different from the previous turtles and frogs!), shoe shapes (There's a flip-flop!), rose shapes, and then I got two candy molds, which I have found also work spectacularly well for soap.  One of those is shaped like barrel-of-monkeys type monkeys, with the fun swingy arms, and the other is a variety of sea creatures.  BEST PURCHASES EVER.  I also got new scents to add to my soaps- peach, pearberry, coconut, wild berry (YUM!), citrus, and honey almond (Yum again!).

PLUS, in a stroke of uncommonly good luck, I was wandering around Hobby Lobby, and on the end of one of the asiles was a sale of decorative tiles printed with coffee drinks, which I thought were really cute.  I had no use for them though, and was about to pass them up, when I noticed MINI coffee cup tiles, with attached hooks!  Do you know how long I have had "Buy hooks to hang coffee mugs on" on my Kitchen To-Do list?  (This house is still so screwy that each room has a separate to-do list.)  So, I snatched up the three hook-tile things that were left.  I promise photos once I get them up on the walls.  HOORAY for random luck!

I wanted to go to a few other places in Springfield, but the Gnome was installing drywall or something, so I gave up and called it a day.  Of course, it was raining, and I was sleepy, so the drive home was going to s-u-c-k.  Also, my tires are super-bare, and were supposed to be replaced months ago, which makes driving in the rain even more fun!

Long story short, because I'm sick of typing, and still grumpy from my head and generall feeling of crappyness, something is wrong with my car, and we spent the whole ride home just hoping we would make it home.  I don't have any idea what's actually wrong with it, but I've spent enough time in that car in the past two years that I know when something's wrong.  It's now on the list of "Things to Fix On Monday", along with my neck and head.  And maybe pizza.

So, after getting home in one piece (Well, two pieces, since there were two of us), I curled up in bed and whined and complained to the world about the injustices of headaches for a while, and then gave up and went to make soap.  I would post a billion brightly colored photos here of all of the pretty ones I made, but most of you who read this are getting some in the mail, and I don't want to spoil the surprise.  I will tell you, however, that there are Citrus Fresh Monkeys, Wild Berry Ocotpuses (Octopi?), and Genetic Mutation Experiment Fish (My favorites!).  If you want me to send you homemade soaps, this is your last chance to suck up, they're mailing out on Monday!  Use the Comments for soap-related sucking up, btw, because I will totally forget what you request via IM.  My brain space is all being taken up by the gnome, so everything else is just wooshy.

Comments (And soap requests!)
