Let's start out with the really important stuff, shall we?  This is Apple.

Ever since my car hit 100,000 miles, I've been toying with the idea of a new car.  Throw in the fact that my brake pads were bare and my tires as smooth and treadless as a baby's bottom, and I really wanted a new car.  Add to that that my steering wheel emitted a mysterious wisp of smoke when I was driving home from Springfield the other day, that my car felt weird driving home that day, and um, the fact that two pieces of my car are stored in my kitchen, and it's really time for a new car.

So, on Monday, I asked Mom to drive me to my chiropractor appointment (also known as Death to the Gnome with the Nailgun.  I guess it was spinal-related, since he went away after I got my neck adjusted.)  and on the way home, I asked if we could zip through the car lot so that I could drool at the pretty pretty 2005 Mustangs.  When I saw this pretty little red one in the lot, I hopped out of the cart and began drooling.

So, long story short, I test-drove a pretty red 2004 Mustang, and then an even prettier silver 2004 Mustang Convertible, fell in love with her, and went back the next day and bought her.

How did she get the name Apple?  Well, while the car dealer guy was in the finance office working out the price details and such, Mom and I were left alone in the lobby for a really long time.  Seriouly, it was probably an hour.  We got kind of slap happy after a while, and started coming up with ideas on how to amuse ourselves, like that we should run around the office and switch everyone's nameplates on their desks around, or go outside and try to sell people cars.  By the time we actually got to go in and talk price, we had lost it.  So, half an hour or so later when the finance guy called my insurance to add my car, he was reading off the VIN, and said something like "1, 3, 5, F-Frank, 4, 4, A-Apple..", at which point I collapsed into giggles and whispered loudly to Mom "I'm going to name my car Apple!".  Thus, Apple she is.  Go make yourself an apple martini to celebrate.

Driving with the top down isn't as windy as I had imagined.  I actually cheat and keep the windows up while the top is down, which cuts out a LOT of wind, even if it looks kind of silly.

I took this last photo of my old car, Hedwig, at the car wash where we spent about seven thousand dollars cleaning her up before I traded her in.  She looks so shiny and new!

Hehe, so I was just digging my books out of my library bag, and I have two that I checked out to skim through for next week's Nafta discussion in my geog. class, and the titles are so contradictory that it cracks me up.  I have: "Free Trade: The Necessary Foundation for World Peace", and "Save Your Job, Save Our Country- Why NAFTA Must Be Stopped- NOW!" (By Ross Perot!  Hee!).  This whole NAFTA thing is *really boring*.  Geography is supposed to be exciting!  What went wrong?

So, yesterday I wanted an excuse to zip around in Apple, so I went up to Springfield to go to the library.  I also stopped by the craft supply store last night, because I decided I really needed some new yarn.  (I only have TWO scarves in progress right now!  The horror!)  The Glory of the Yarn Department took over, and I ended up with four new kinds of yarn, and two new sets of knitting needles.  Only on the way home did I remember that I already HAD size 5 needles, so at least I can return those.  No, you're right, I'll probably keep them.  $35 at the craft store last night is, unfortunately, a cheap trip for me lately, between the knitting obsession and the soap making extravaganza, so when I got home, I swore that should I set foot in a craft store again before the end of the month, a sheep could fall from the heavens right onto my head.  That should make me think twice.  At least there's always ordering online!

Check out my pretty new yarn!

Tallulah liked it, too.

I immediately started scarves with both the light purple and Cookie Monster Blue.

I just realized that I never showed you the scarves I finished!  I'm too lazy to model them myself, so I got someone to stand in.

Poor Legolas is still wearing the bluegreen one.  I never realized what a good scarf holder he makes!

Here's the fun scarf I'm working on with that nifty eyelash yarn.  I loooove the colors.

At this rate, it won't be long before I have to dig Aragorn out to hold the scarves that won't fit on Legolas.  I may even have to invest in a hobbit or two.  (And here everyone thought I'd never find a use for these guys!  HAH!)

Sorting out the photos for this post made me take a moment to stop and appreciate digital photography.  I took 16 photos of *yarn* tonight.  How did we survive in a world of 24 exposure rolls?

I'm still on my whole cleaning and organizing thing.  I did finally manage to get my tack box all cleaned out and organized.  Having to dig all of my horse stuff out of my old car's trunk helped that along a lot!  Check out my new and improved tack box!

It has my stiff brush, soft brush, face brush, mane and tail brush, mane comb, mane trimmer, bands for braids, good hoof pick, ugly hoof pick, and hairbands for me (wrapped around the handle of the hoofpick) on the grooming half.  The other side holds a bag full of bailing twine (the duct tape of the horse world- it can fix anything!  And the bag is handy for writing notes on), a height and weight tape (You can estimate a horse's weight by measuring around their belly),  vetwrap, a spare syringe, coupons for wormer, band-aids and gauze, one of my dad's old work gloves, a pen, saddle soap, spare crappy leadrope, and my curb bit for trail rides (we usually use a snaffle).  So pretty!

And finally, I'll wrap here with this picture from last night of Lily playing with my headphones.  She is all about the music, man.
