Sunday May 1, 2005

About a week ago, I was looking through my archives from last year, and noticed that I had tried to post every day in May.  It sounded like a good idea, so once again, I'm trying for Every Day In May!  You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll wonder how I find mundane and trivial things to post about every single day!

Fantasic line of e-mail of the day, "They snore amazingly loud for tiny asian girls.", from Katie who e-mailed me from a hostel in Japan.

Have you actually looked at your mp3 collection lately?  I didn't, until I happened to notice last week that my computer only had 29.9gb of space free!  Out of 120gb!  I couldn't figure out where all that space had gone, and admittedly, having all of seasons 3 & 4 of Gilmore girls on my computer, plus a bunch of episodes of the Amazing Race I haven't watched yet, and some episodes of the Simple Life for mom (Have I mentioned that my mom is addicted to that show?), etc etc doesn't help much, but then I noticed that I had a LOT of mp3s, too.  Then I noticed the British Invasion.  Of my 2783 mp3s, 646 were the Beatles, and 221 the Rolling Stones.  We won't even begin to discuss how wrong it is that I have more Beatles than Rolling Stones.  But do I really need 5 different versions of "Penny Lane"?  It took some dedication, but I managed to delete over 200 Beatles songs.  They were mostly duplicates, and a few that I just don't listen to much.  I need to do more, because really, it's just too much to scroll through!

I will now point out that I am writing this at 4pm, when I should be working on my history posts that are due at midnight.  Just two weeks of school left, though!  And no, I'm not taking summer classes, and about 70% sure that I'm not taking anything in the fall, either.  Honestly, I get bored too easily.  The last couple of weeks, I even fell into that trap of just rushing through the reading to be able to do the work, not actually absorbing anything, which is what drives me crazy about schools in general.  Students get so focused on grades that they aren't actually *learning* anything.  I think I'll stick with the History channel and the Travel channel, and all those nerdy books I read.  For now anyway.

I just bought a cookbook from some local high school seniors who knocked on the door, raising money for their Project Graduation party.  I love cookbooks, especially this type where the recipes are all submitted by local people.  I bought one at the county fair last year, but I haven't actually gotten around to making anything from it yet.  I really should cook more.  I don't remember the last time I made anything more complicated than soup or a sandwich.

My poor camera seems to be about dead.  Ever since the little latches that keep the battery door closed broke, it's been a downhill struggle.  I've been watching E-bay for a new one, but I can't afford anything yet.  I either want the same thing, or the Coolpix 990 model, which is pretty much the same thing, but with the added ability to shoot video.  I need to get one soon, though, because I take so freaking many pictures that not having a good working camera drives me NUTS!

Hi, we can't come to the comments right now, so leave a message after the beep!  BEEP!
