I keep meaning to update, I really do, but then I get distracted.  It's not that I have a short attention span or anything, but... hey!  look!  a quarter!  *wanders off*

What was I saying?  Oh, updating.  I figured I should probably do it tonight before the List O Things to Post About gets so long that it strangles me in my sleep, so here we go.

I got free pizza at work one night this week!  There are usually at least 1 or 2 pizza people delivering to the hotel every night, and I always "whine" to them that they don't bring me anything.  So, that night, one walks in and hands me a pizza!  He said I always complain that he doesn't bring me anything, and so when he had an extra tonight, he knew just where to take it!  I am so feeling the love.  I also need to start complaining to diamond deliverymen.  (Do those exist?)

Also, I am going to Cancun!  My sister won a trip a few months ago, and she isn't going to be able to use it, so my mom ended up buying it from her for like $350!  It includes airfare for 2 people, and $1070 for 4 hotel nights, and we get to decide which hotel to use it on.  Mmm, trip planning!  Can't wait!  Anyone know what the weather is like in Cancun in Jan/Feb?

Simucon was fabulous, as always.   It felt so short this year, since I arrived on Thurs instead of the usual Tues.  It was much better than last year, although I missed having a DJ for all night dancing, and really missed some of the regulars who didn't come this year.  Otherwise, though, it was great.  There was a very laid-back vibe that worked well.  I definitely don't remember everything, but I can share some highlights:

Thursday: It took me about 5 hours to drive up,  which included stops for batteries (had to use my portable cd player and old computer speakers, since Ford still didn't have my new CD player in.  That really sucked.) and then at Target for the infamous Ralph Wiggum shirt.  Kelly arrived about an hour after I did, and we spent the majority of our evening laying around in a window seat with various friends stopping by, and developing a fan club.  At one point, we became curious about who had longer legs, so we scooted together to measure.  What we didn't realize was that everyone outside on the patio had a great view, and really enjoyed the show.  I have no idea how many people took pictures.

You probably can't tell, but we are each wearing one shoe of our own, and one of each other's there.  I can't remember who did that to us, but it stayed that way most of the night.  Except for when Jan stole my shoe, and threw it up on the roof of the hotel outside.  That led to someone eventually fishing it out of the gutter for me, but again, I have no idea who.  It eventually ended up in Chris's pants, and then back on my foot.  Such an adventure for one little shoe!

The other highlight of the evening was The Box.  We discovered that the wooden bench across from our window seat opened, and that you could fit people inside.  We spent a good half hour putting people into the box, taking people out of the box, and listening to the funny noises people made if they were left trapped in the box.

Kelly goes into the box...(also pictured is our new friend Rodrey, who was there for some Edward Jones thing.  He was Welsh, and really, really, unbelievably drunk.)

And at St Louis Bread Co. on Friday morning

This creepy girl was painted on the wall at St. Louis Bread Co.  She freaked me out.

The now infamous Ralph Wiggum shirt.  Hooray!

I found a tree out in the parking lot that you could walk inside of if you were adventurous enough.  I went in and took this pic of Kelly, who was outside the tree.

They changed the Clue figures to be tiny little action figures.  We like to call these "Insurance Salesman" Green, and Mrs. "Let's do the Time Warp Again" White

And of course, Professor "Conan O'Brian" Plumb.

The $4 grilled cheese off the kids menu from room service is the best deal in the place!  Half of the sandwich is in my mouth while this picture was taken, and it also came with more fruit and fries, which my roommates had already eaten.

On Friday, the Modus group did a pub crawl, which was sort of misnamed, because we only ever made it to two pubs.  The photo below was taken at a Mexican restaurant/bar where we spent the most time.  I love it because it is blurry, just like my memories.

My so-called "Artsy" shot of Kiki's drink

After the mystery forum on Saturday, Kelly and I set off into St Louis in search of a bellydance costume place I had directions to.  After getting so incredibly lost that we ended up in freaking Canada, we gave up (after 2 hours!) and instead went to the tattoo place she wanted to check out.  After much searching through their books, she finally found what she was looking for, and the tattooing began!

in progress...

the finished product

The best part is that before starting, the tattoo guy actually shaved Kelly's back.  That day will go down in history not as the day that Kelly got a tattoo, but as the day she got her back shaved.  While we were at the tattoo place, I mentioned that we had been gone for hours, and nobody had called to see where we were.  At that exact second, my phone rang, and I got to fill Todd in on our whereabouts.  He pointed out that we were about to miss the keynote dinner.  Oops!

Back at the hotel, we found out that the 112 party was going strong, this year with a luge thing set up for shots.  Basically, they set up a giant ice block, carved out a path, and poured shots down for you to suck off.  Fun!

I wish I could tell you about Sunday, but I don't really remember anything.  I vaguely remember my roommates waking me up a few minutes before we had to check out, rolling out of bed (well, struggling off the floor, since I didn't have a bed.  My back wasn't a fan of that plan.) and driving home.
