In the words of the fabulous Samantha Sterling, "Adventure keeps calling my
name!"
I have a big-ass trip planned for October. (Actually, since it happens that the food & wine fest will be going on at Epcot during that trip, it may literally be a big-ass trip! M'assalama!) Big ol' trip of mammoth proportions. It has its own slogans and t-shirts and all sorts of things. That should be enough trip planning to keep me occupied all year, no?
But then I found out! Found out what, you ask? I'll give you two facts, and then you can guess.
Fact #1- I have been wandering around for the past few months since I got home, whining to anyone who will stand still long enough, that I want to go to Star Wars Weekend again within the next few years. (SWW is a lovely event at Disney-MGM Studios where all of the nerds come out to play. I happened upon it on my very first Disney trip back in 2000, but didn't have time to explore it much, since we only had half a day for MGM.) I think my inner nerd has been pissed at me since I had to cancel my Star Wars Galaxies and Matrix Online RPG accounts over a year ago. My inner nerd demands to be indulged, and it hasn't been gettin' any. So yes, I need some fun nerdy event, and SWW is a great one!
Fact #2- I have been saying since that very first Star Wars Weekend back in 2000 that if Ray Park ever did it, I would HAVE to go.
Ray Park, for the less nerdy among you, was Darth Maul in Episode 1.
Just in case you've forgotten the awesomeness that is Darth Maul:
I believe the first thing I said walking out of Episode 1 for the first time was "I'd hit that."
Okay, so it was the late 90s, and nobody used that phrase, but you get the idea. Seriously, y'all know I want to have Ewan McGregor's babies, but I was all "Obi Wan who? Bring on the Sith!"
This was back in the earlyish days of the internet, but soon after the movie opened, up sprang the online community of the Darth Maul Estrogen Brigade, of which I was a member.
And holy crap! I just googled it, and it still exists! Wow!

So anyway, now that you have Fact #1 and Fact #2, can you guess what happened?
They announced who the celebrities attending this year's SWW are! One of them is... Ray Park!
I. Have. To. Go.
I can do it fairly cheap, since it would just be a 4 day trip. And I need to buy a new pass for October, anyway, so that expense doesn't really count...
And it would be nice to have a quick break in the middle of the summer, just to get away for a weekend...
Also, the man is freakin' hot.
Behold the nerdy hotness.

I seriously spent a good part of X-Men 1 worried about my psychological state because I found Toad hot. Until the credits. Toad = Ray Park. Oh.
Do you think that all of my bills will mind if I just... don't pay them? I mean... I have priorities!
Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go do something un-nerdy before I start searching for storm trooper costumes on e-Bay or something. Yeesh!
